Advice to guys about selecting a ring design

I see lots of young men coming into my showroom completely overwhelmed with what design to pick as her engagement ring. The first thing I ask is "did she show you a picture of a ring she likes" or "did she mention anything about the design of the ring that she is expecting". Most of the time they say that they do have an idea of the design but she is leaving it up to me to make the final decision, that is a customer that is 90% sure of what to buy. How about the men that come in and say "she does not know anything about what I am about to purchase and therefore I need your help". I always suggest that you buy the diamond that you can afford and mount the diamond on a simple setting (not very expensive) so that she can make the final decision as to the style of ring she will end up with. This approach seems to work well and there is less stress in the presentation of the ring.
If you are the type of person who feels they need to be in total control of the situation then I strongly suggest that you do your homework and not give her something that she will hate and remind you of that  for many years to come.
Therefore, make this a positive experience, get as much information as possible, and in the end she will be happy and so will you. For further advice on this issue, please feel free to call me and discuss your particular situation or come into my showroom.

Touch before buying !

Touch & Feel before buying your next piece of jewelry

This is a reprint of an earlier posting which I thought was relevant today as much as before.

I know that buying on-line has become the trend these last few years. I also know that touching and feeling what you are about to buy makes more sense, especially if we are about to spend a large amount of money.
Sure, you can sit in front of your computer and click on a piece of jewelry that looks nice, provide your credit card information and in a few days the item shows up at your doorstep. But do you really know what to expect when you open that package? I don't think so, you have no idea how this item will look on you and you become disappointed and start the struggle to ship it back and wait for your refund.
We offer jewelry at prices comparable to internet prices with better quality, and the advantage of being able to try things on and listen to my expert opinion about what looks best on you before you spend a single dollar. How much better can it get?
Customers need to start appreciating the hands on experience in buying jewelry from an honest vendor and not just go on-line and buy something that looks good on your computer monitor or smart phone. As a professional jeweler, I have spend years designing jewelry for individuals who end up having a smile on their face because they know this piece of jewelry was made for them and for their specific taste. If you are willing to spend a little time to come into our showroom, I guarantee that the experience will be well worth it.
Please give me a call at 213 622-7772 and set up an appointment before making your next jewelry purchase.
Hope to see you soon,

Reviews on Yelp

Today eveyone is using Yelp to make important decisions about where to make your next purchase, whether its jewelry, doctor, or everything in between. Yes, reviews are important if you are looking for someone new to deal with, giving you some insight into how customers feel about a particular vendor.
In our case, many of our customers are not regular users of Yelp and therefore at the present time, we only have 30 reviews that are posted. Of course they are all 5 stars and well deserving because we make sure every customer is 100% satisfied with our quality and service.
I find that of the customers that do use Yelp, they are mostly mid 20's to late 40's. Our customer base who are out of that age catagory tend not to be too interested in taking the time to go on-line and write reviews. But if you are one of those customers who lives and dies by reviews, than I encourage that you take the time to write a nice positive review so that future customers can experience the same level of service that you are accustomed to at Sol Jewelry Designs.
